You can read the full letter here.
I think the letter is great. It does make a mockery of the activists and I don’t think the letter is going to change the activists’ minds, but it gets the point across well. The anti-Israel activists will see the letter as condescending and patronising, although the message of the letter is true.
The point of the letter is not that Israel is doing something wrong, but that there are worse evils out there to combat first. Israel doesn’t think she is in the wrong and she isn’t in the wrong. The point of the letter is that these activists are irrational in their condemnation of Israel. There are many other, far more serious, causes out there and these activists are busy complaining about Israel’s policies, despite the fact that it is the only democracy in the Middle East.
I hate all the slander I read about Israel on the internet. It makes me sick. If people would only realise that Israel bends over backwards to try and achieve peace, that Israel gains nothing by blockading Gaza and that the only reason the blockade is there is to avoid the smuggling of even more arms into Gaza, there would be a lot less anti-Israel propaganda.
The sad thing is that nobody I’m trying to reach with this blog post is actually going to read it, and even if they did, it wouldn’t change their minds about any of this.
